Series Introduction
Welcome to HRP’s inaugural “Reg Roundup”! As part of our new educational content initiative, we hope to bring you these roundups regularly. Let us know how often you’d like to see these (monthly? quarterly? more often?).
In this edition of HRP’s Reg Roundup, we summarize some of the most interesting and consequential developments in research policy at the federal level from June through mid-October 2026. A lot has happened, so we will be publishing several articles throughout the week instead of one 5,000-word tome.
Before jumping in, check out our companion article that walks through the titillating (we think anyway…) topic of how informal rulemaking works, how to read a reginfo.gov listing, what the Unified Agenda is (and isn’t), what an “information collection” is (and isn’t), and how you can use all of the information published by the federal government to forecast what policy changes might be coming down the pike and when.
